Greenbone AG

Greenbone’s roots trace back to GNessUS in the early 2000s, an early open-source approach to vulnerability scanning. This gave rise to OPENVAS as a free, transparent, and independent alternative to proprietary security solutions.

This development was shaped by founders Lukas Grunwald and Jan-Oliver Wagner, who championed the idea of an independent and transparent security platform from the very beginning. Building on this foundation, Greenbone Networks GmbH was established in 2008 and grew into a well-established provider of automated vulnerability management.

The next step followed in 2023: Greenbone Networks GmbH was transformed into Greenbone AG to professionally strengthen growth, internationalization, and further development.

Today, Greenbone stands for security, transparency and digital sovereignty. Greenbone AG helps organizations detect vulnerabilities early, reduce risks, and maintain control over their own IT security.
